Posted in Regional Portal on February 19th, 2010

It often takes more than one trip to find a place worth staying in in Las Vegas hotel deals. But, with a little research, it becomes easy to find your ideal hotel deal to get on with enjoying your vacation or business trip. Having all the additional extras rather than basic rooms can really make a huge difference to the price. There are many stages in between, covering all prices. Your very first step should be to decide on which luxuries are needed. By doing this you can develop a list of hotels which offer what you want. Is it truly worth paying for a net connection, say, or is a warm bed and a shower all you require? You’ll also want to look at a city map for the sites of your Las Vegas hotel deals. If you know places to visit and things you want to do while traveling, it’s easy to compare to the hotels’ locations and identify the nearest lodges. A holiday revolving around clubbing and shopping will see you want in or around clubland although far enough out for peace and quiet. But if the bulk of your time will be spent outside of the city you’re likely to prefer a room in the boondocks. Finally, you should check out customer reviews of the various area lodgings. You’ll find plenty of reviews on the Net, and if you read a decent selection the end result will be a thorough understanding of the situation.

As useful as reviews from journalists are reviews from guests, supplying as they do a picture of how staying in each hotel feels. Check on truth in advertising — how well does the hotel come through on its promised extras? We recommend considering statements on hygiene and on how comfortable the rooms are.

Online deals for the top Las Vegas hotel deals are a guarantee of a positive experience during your stay. What you have to do is identify the offer which balances your needs and your budget. As we hope we’ve shown, this is a straightforward process and, obviously, one which offers a number of benefits for your family.

How Splenda’s Made

Posted in Cooking Stuff, Nutrition Hub, University of Health on February 18th, 2010

Splenda is a zero calorie alternative to sugar that’s been manufactured since the 1990s. Splenda is made from a chemical process that is based on the chlorination of normal sugar. Splenda is a sugar that has been chemically altered.

Between 2000 and 2004, the percentage of US households using Splenda rose from 3 to 20 percent. Splenda sales exceeded $177 million in a recent year during which there were only $62 million in sales for the aspartame-based Equal and $52 million in sales for the saccharin-based Sweet ‘N Low.

The company that manufactures Splenda, McNeil Nutritionals, says that Splenda has prevailed in some of the most rigorous food tests on record for any food additive. McNeil claims that over 100 such studies have been conducted on Splenda. Most of these studies were done on animals, which throws into doubt the safety report for humans.

The chemical name of Splenda is sucralose. Many people have sucralose intolerance, which makes Splenda an allergen in their body. While sucralose indeed starts off as a sugar molecule, it is the manufacturing process that is concerning. Sucralose is an artificially produced chemical that is cooked up in a five-step patented process. During this process, three chlorine molecules are added to a basic sugar molecule. The initial, natural sugar molecule is a disaccharide that contains two single sugars bound together; fructose and glucose.

One research report nullifies the statement by Splenda’s manufacturers that Splenda is not absorbed by the body. In this study (conducted on humans), one in eight participants did not excrete any sucralose after three days of ingesting Splenda. Another study (conducted on animals) found that 15% of ingested sucralose is absorbed into the digestive system and is then stored in the body.

If you are even considering becoming a professional online poker player, you need to know about the required tools of the trade. When it comes to online poker, the only real necessity is a decent computer with online internet access. However, these deceptively simple requirements can prove to be a bit of a landmine for new poker players. Here is the quick and fast answer to this question. One of the most common questions asked on new player forums is exactly what kind of computer you need to be a successful poker online player. Do you need a fancy new computer with all the bells and whistles? Do you need a top notch computer with all the latest technology? The simple answer is no. All you need computer wise is one that works. The skill (or the bells and whistles) comes from how you play, not what is inside your hard drive. A quick side note to this discussion: you do need a decent internet connection to go with your computer. Save Your Bookmarks in Personal Web Directories

Posted in Recreation Center, Universe Of Links on February 16th, 2010

Many people bookmark large numbers of Websites to return to in their future browsing activities. But after a while your list of Websites may grow too large to really be practical. One solution you may want to consider is converting your bookmarks pages into a Web directory. Many browsers will export your bookmarks in HTML format, making it easy for you to create simple Web directory pages.

Some popular Websites also make it simple for you to create a custom Web directory. All you have to do is register for a free account. You can then browse your ever-growing list of bookmarks without worrying about how crowded your most important bookmarks collection in your browser becomes.

Although personal Web directories have fallen out of favor many older sites are still available. Your personal selections from years gone by may last longer than the sites themselves. Still, it is sometimes nice to be able to go back and look at the sites you once visited often to see how they have changed.

Some universities also create special Web directories to help their students and faculty members find interesting sites. These university Web directories may prove to be of higher quality than the personal directories people create from bookmark files or through free Web accounts. Some universities dedicate staff members to keeping their directories updated.
