Walking away
When you get a bad beat, it’s not fun-you played a good hand, you got someone to call against you with worse cards, and against the odds, through blind luck, they manage to draw out a winning hand. It’s always a shame to lose chips to a bad hand, but it’s a downright disgrace to let a bad beat turn into a night of tilting away the rest of your chips. After a bad beat, many players will start to play hands that they would usually fold, make bluffs at people that they know won’t fold, and generally play poker online that is beneath their skill level. It can happen to anyone, but anyone can prevent it as well. Here’s a novel idea to keep you from throwing your chips away-leave.
Just walk away. It’s easy to get caught up in the competitive nature of poker online, so get up from the table and take a few hands off. Walking away is a great way to get some perspective on the hand and regain your composure. You might as well go hit the bathroom while you’re at it. Walk it off, cool down, and come back to the table refreshed and ready to play some smart online poker.
