Three Poems: Gloom to Glory, September 14 & The Bull Fight [In Spanish & English]

September 14

Enlarging
Cabs, no car
Got that
No cash, flash
Before it starts
After it's done
Doors open
As in indolent
Lava
Arctic ice
Flow
Food cabbage/grow
Creepy
Scorpion's sting
(everything's slow)
Below
Under the,
Neck-bone
Let them alone
Car lights
City lamps,
No heroes
Pass me
Just taxies
Assaults in
The parks
People saying:
Candy candy
No control
No rewards
Night-time fool
It's all, all there
There is…
There is
No more!...

Ode: to the Watchers
[Gloom to Glory]

Lo! He built the House of Man
In vainHeaven now is
Grieving, has no one else
To blame
Glory Grieving!.. (a shame)

What we dreama wiser age
Shall do
Then out of the darkness we
Shall glow (old fools)
From the watch towers
We built long ago

Be ye dead, O City of Men
With selfish bonds
You have no Master
You have no Shame
You will be know as
The Forgotten Age…

Ancient evil lurks undone
Know you this: sons of
The serpent, the fathers…:
Your music is but a
Strain of noise
In a vision lost: thus
From the future
They will look:
Gloom to Glory
But our past: lost

“Toro de Lidia, Nico”
[The Bull Fight of Nico]

He was mortally wounded, Nico the bull, in Mexico CityIn the summer of2003. But not by the Matador, or his Capa, or Citar (Challenger of the bull) For he was bad and the right Horn of Nico pushed this young Matador to an arrogant move; rhythmically, punishing him by Nico’s moves. Ah! Nico was confident, indifferent to the Matadors plan, then they took him out of the arena to the hospital, where they wonders if he was alive or dead; and behind his shadow came Estogue (the sword) from another Matador. Deep, deep into, and through his vertebrae-six times; the Matador had no craft or time. The same woundsteel to bone, all the art was lost in this fight, only trucos (tricks) that didn’t’ work; and the crowd new this, but yet the band blew the horns. The sun was hot that day, and I went to see Nico behind the butcher’s curtains: but he was already butchered bare: flesh, bone and hide.

Sales Prospecting - How Effective is Your Elevator Pitch?

Posted in Sales Resources on June 28th, 2008

Do you truly believe that your company’s products and services will help your prospects? Have you ever thought, “I know I could find ways to help (company name) if I could just get (prospect name) to talk to me for 20 minutes!”

Why is it so difficult to convince prospects to schedule time to talk with us? There are two main answers to this question. First, dozens (or even hundreds) of salespeople may be asking for your prospects’ time. If prospects gave everyone who asked the time they ask for, they would never have time to get any work done!

Second, chances are that your prospects are not just sitting around waiting for salespeople to contact them. They are focused on their own (business and personal) objectives, issues and concerns. When you contact them, you need to find some way to break through this “mental clutter”, grab their attention, and focus it on what you are saying.

This makes developing an effective “elevator pitch” the single most important step in sales prospecting. After all, what good is it to have fabulous solutions to problems if you can’t get the people who have the problems to talk to you? Plus, how many times a day are you asked, “What do you do for a living?” How many prospects (and referrals) might you uncover if you had a highly effective and intriguing answer that rolls right off your tongue?

The concept behind an elevator pitch is simple

Imagine you are riding in an elevator. The doors open and one of your top prospects steps into the elevator. You now have a very brief (thirty to sixty second) opportunity to introduce yourself and convince your prospect that they need to have a longer conversation with you. What are you going to say?

To be effective, your elevator pitch must differentiate you from all the other salespeople who contact your prospects, and break through your prospects’ mental clutter and grab their attention. The best way to begin to develop an effective elevator pitch is by considering the following questions:

  1. Who are your target prospects? What do they do? What job titles do they hold? What vertical markets are they in?
  2. How will your products and services help your prospects? How will their lives be different after they work with you?

  3. What are the quantified impacts (dollars or percentages and time frames) that have been produced by your company’s products and services? How (specifically) has your company helped its customers?

Here are sample answers to these questions based upon my own company’s products and services

Q1: Who are your target prospects? What do they do? What job titles do they hold? What vertical markets are they in?

A1: My target prospects are business owners, executives, and managers. Because I address sales performance issues, and these issues occur in all vertical markets, I do not focus on specific vertical markets.

Q2: How will your products and services help your prospects? How will their lives be different after they work with you?

A2: My products and services help my customers end the frustration of 80/20 sales team performance, where 20% of salespeople produce 80% of sales.

Q3: What are the quantified impacts (dollars or percentages and time frames) that have been produced by your company’s products and services? How (specifically) has your company helped its customers?

A3: Some of my customers have seen their sales DOUBLE in as little as eight months.

Once you have answered all three questions, combine your answers to create an elevator pitch

Here is an example based upon the preceding information:

“I help business owners, executives, and managers end the frustration of 80/20 sales team performance (where 20% of salespeople produce 80% of sales). In fact, some of my customers have seen their sales DOUBLE in as little as eight months!”

If you have never measured the quantified impacts of your company’s products and services, that’s OK - it is a new concept for many salespeople and companies. However, it is crucial that you collect some quantified impact information as soon as possible! Why? Because nothing breaks through a prospect’s mental clutter like quantified impacts!

Here are several questions you can ask yourself and your customers to define quantified impacts for your company’s products and services:

  1. What business problems is your company especially good at solving? (Make a comprehensive list - it will provide a useful outline for your conversations with customers.)

  2. How have you or your company helped a customer in a way that was unusual or especially valuable? In other words, when have you or your company really been “a hero” in a customer’s eyes?

  3. What (specific dollar value or percentage) increase in revenue or reduction in expenses can the customer associate with each identified example of “unusual value”? Over what time frame was this value delivered?

Conclusion

If you want to pump up your sales prospecting success rate, develop a truly compelling elevator pitch. Make sure your elevator pitch identifies your target prospects, how they will benefit from using your company’s products and services, and one or more examples of quantified impacts that you (or your company) have actually produced for other customers.

A properly designed elevator pitch will help you stand out from other salespeople, break through your prospects’ mental clutter, and grab their attention. These are crucial first steps to convincing prospects to schedule time for more in-depth conversations!

Airsoft Handguns - The Perfect Gift For Every Thirtysomething Kid

Posted in University of Sports on June 28th, 2008

They’re not in the same category as a kids toys but airsoft pistols are an ideal hobby for any adult or young adult. Unlike paintball guns or normal airguns airsoft hanguns are designed to look just like the real thing. This has posed a problem for airsoft gun owners over the years due to airsoft pistols being used in “armed” robberies. Believe me when one of these is pointed in your face it looks just like the real thing. To combat this danger airsoft manufactures are now making many of their airguns in clear plastics and/or with an orange flash at the tip of the barrel to counteract this problem.

Your airsoft pistol is capable of firing a 6mm plastic bb at speeds of up to 300 feet per second which while not dangerous to exposed arms or legs could definitely cause damage to unprotected eyes. Always, always use safety glasses when firing an airsoft gun indoors or outdoors. A ricochet can happen quite easily and the results can be horrific. The actual power of your handgun will depend on the firing mechanism used. Your choices are spring, gas and electric. Spring and gas offer the highest power range but the newer AEG blowback handguns look pretty neat too.

Bear in mind too that a spring airsoft gun will need to be cocked for every single shot whereas the gas and AEG models offer fully automatic fire rates. The spring pistols will be cheaper but are a little bit more clumsy to use. The gas blowback models really mimic the real thing - especially when the topslide flies backwards after each shot.

One thing you won’t need to worry about when buying an airsoft handgun is finding your favourite weapon. The choice is truly staggering with all the popular brands making an appearance - Glock,Beretta and the Desert Eagle being amongst the most popular. For the true airsoft nut you can even get the Robocop M93R handgun - although these are getting tough to find nowadays.

Just like the real thing your airsoft handgun needs to be loaded before firing so you’ll need to fill the clip with bbs before you can start target practice. The bbs themselves are available in a variety of colors and styles - including paintball and glow-in-the-dark; so there’s a bb to suit everyones taste.

Indoor or outdoor airsoft handguns offer a fun and entertaining hobby that can be enjoyed safely by just about the entire family. As always these guns are not really toys and should not be used by children unattended.

Also please do check local laws in relation to owning an airsoft handgun - they are banned in some countries. Check your local, state and national laws to ensure that possessing an airsoft pistol isn’t against the law. There have been several cases of airosft guns being mistaken for real weapons by police forces worldwide - sometimes with tragic consequences.

Laptop Demand Getting Astronomical

Posted in Living With Technology on June 27th, 2008

Laptop computers seem to be the current in thing this year. I just scared that like last year we will have problems getting the latest technology too. Laptop Computers have been an evolving business year on year for a number of years now and it looks like that will continue. The technology cycles are so minute too which makes it all the more harder.

More manufacturers are realising that gaming laptops is becoming big enough niche to chase. With prices coming down and new technology being launched rather rapidly it means that people are getting more value. Gaming laptops are no longer ridiculed by serious gamers because they are actually fairly good. Past obstactles with massive, over heating laptops for gaming are disssapearing and new slimmer, attractive products are being launched. Performance of desktops should infinitely be a light year ahead of laptops but its still encouraging to see. I feel gaming laptops are always exciting to read about because they are constantly pushing the envelope on mobile technology.

For the niche customers using notebooks. With custom built laptops you normally get to discover what make of components is going into the notebook. By being able to negate some add on’s from the spec you can actually save cash on parts you won’t use. Prebuilt laptops are manufactured for people who have like minded requirements and that is probably not you right? Mass customisation of notebooks has got past this problem. Advanced levels of customer care and support can also be found when obtaining custom built laptops. This could be a important attractor to some niche sectors.

We’re seeing some fairly awesome stuff at the minute and I wonder what will be introduced next. The super low cost umpc group seems to be starting all the buzz at this time. The Eee PC just built a new niche division. Buyers need laptops that are light but also big enough to be practical and simple to use. I guess you could say these laptops are already attainable if you’re willing to pay the premium. I can expect its not too long before we start experiencing gaming laptops that weigh nothing. All the companies are striving to come out with the next big portable so it’ll be interesting to survey.

I’d recommend gaming laptop at rizeon.

Drum Lessons in Minnesota

Posted in Education Special, Living With Music on June 27th, 2008

No music is complete without beat and no beat is complete without drums. Drum is one of the most significant members of the percussion family. Drum is said to be the oldest of the all the musical instruments. And for ages, there have not any change in the shape of drum. No matter whatever the tribe is, all have drums of their own kind to produce the beat they need. Drums are called the one and only un tuned instruments. But some modern musicians are working on to tune the drums. Drums have a membrane on which the drumsticks produce the sound. It may sound easy. But in reality it is really tough and you can hardly cope up with the instrument without any drum lessons.

Like all Minnesota music lessons, drum has its own class and own schools. There are professional drummers to guide you. When you are a beginner, go for a school that offers well structured courses keeping in mind the necessities of the beginners. Being a beginner you will soon be exhausted with a course for advanced learners. If you know nothing about drum, there is nothing to ashamed of it. Do not hide your inability to your teachers. Otherwise they will be misguided and you will be the sufferer.

Join classes for drum lessons. You should have a sense for beats. But joining a course is not enough for learning an instrument. You should practice more and more. If you think the musical schools and the timing is not apt for you. Do not worry. It is not a full stop for your dream to be a drummer. Search online drum lessons. You will find many. There the lessons available will guide you step bt step and you will learn with ease even if you are just a beginner.

What Happened on June 21

Posted in Education Special on June 23rd, 2008

June 21 is always the 172nd day of the year, unless it’s a leap year in which it is the 173rd day of the year. This is on a Gregorian calendar, which leaves 193 days remaining until January 1st, where a new year beings. June 21 marks the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere and the winter solstice in the southern hemisphere. • Buy a new house with bkr mortgage, 137228 euro in one phone call

Posted in Best Home Improvement, HYIP, Internet Real Estate Resources on June 22nd, 2008

Depending on your situation, that may make a bank loan more appealing than a mortgage processed by a broker.

It is a transfer of an interest in land, from the owner to the mortgage lender, on the condition that this interest will be returned to the owner of the real estate when the terms of the mortgage have been satisfied or performed.

Although most mortgage experts say that rates 11 percent are pretty much the same wherever you go, give or take this tiny 8 percentage. Brokers work with many mortgage bankers and, as a result, can sometimes find slightly more competitive rates 9 percent perhaps lower but dealing directly with a mortgage banker can move a loan along more quickly. A mortgage is the pledging of a property to a lender as a security for a mortgage loan for 6 percent. Arranging a mortgage is seen as the standard method by which individuals and businesses can purchase residential and commercial real estate without the need to pay the full value immediately. Go for a new house with hypotheek zonder bkr toetsing, 282020 euro is not a problem.

So how do you find a lender or broker you can trust? Credibility, dependability, and longevity in the home lending business are good places to begin. And of course, each loan and each borrower are different. Start with credibility. It’s not easy to know if the prices quoted by lenders are reliable. But others will claim low rates to bring in customers or tell you that the rates 3 percent offered by competitors will change.

See which lenders are charging fees 11 percent and for how much. While a mortgage in itself is not a debt, it is evidence of a debt of 6 percent. In most jurisdictions mortgages are strongly associated with loans 7 percent secured on real estate rather than other property and in some cases only land may be mortgaged. Many of these fees are fixed but some can be negotiated.

Both banks and brokers have their strengths and weaknesses. Different lenders charge different fees. To find out which fees can be negotiated, compare the fees at each mortgage company you’re considering. In other words, the mortgage is a security for the loan that the lender makes to the borrower. See mortgage loan for residential mortgage lending, and commercial mortgage for lending against commercial property. Some will quote you precise, competitive rates 11 percent. Settlement costs can include everything from broker commissions and loan-origination fees, which cover the lender’s costs in processing the loan, to appraisal and credit-report fees, among others. Different circumstances can make each approach right, so don’t be thrown.

Microsoft Great Plains: Getting New Users Licenses - Annual Service Plan FAQ

Posted in Software Parlor on June 20th, 2008

Microsoft Business Solutions Great Plains, Solomon, Navision, Axapta, Microsoft CRM require existing customer to be on active service contract: enhancement program. Minimal maintenance plan gives you free new software version (however upgrade itself, if it is done by your MBS partner is not free). If you are outside of USA/Canada: Mexico, South America, UK, South Africa, France, Australia, New Zealand - you may have different promotion campaigns and might be not required to be on the service contract. In this article we assume that you are US/Canadian client.

    • Can I get new licenses without being on the service contract? The answer is no - we tried to negotiate with MBS on behalf of midsize and large corporate clients, who are so-called orphans, or without support/service plan. Please, understand the rules of ERP application support. It is normal practice when large business ERP requires service plan. Microsoft Business Solutions in turn requires its MBS partners to pass multiple certification and quality assurance (QA) tests

    • What is re-enrollment fee? Currently reenrollment fee is 35% of the software price list. From time to time you may catch re-enrollment promotion campaigns, the minimum known was 20% (September/October 2004). If you are on version eEnterprise 6.0 and skipped 4 annual payments (16%) and now in order to upgrade to Great Plains Professional 8.0 you pay 35% (which includes 16% enhancement plan for the next year), then your penalty is just 19% - I’d say go ahead and reenroll.

    • Great Plains Standard vs. Professional. Great Plains Standard (or former Great Plains Dynamics) has certain limitations: number of users is capped at 10 and number of employees (US Payroll) is capped at 500. Great Plains Standard is available on MSDE and MS SQL Server

    • New Modules Addition. The same rule applies - you have to be on enhancement program to get additional modules. So, if you need say Fixed Assets module and if you are without support - you need to reenroll in order to get FA module reg key.

    • Customization Upgrade. If you need Great Plains Dexterity, Modifier/VBA, Continuum, eConnect. SQL Stored procs customization upgrade, you need to find MBS customization partner. As your customization was done by somebody else in the past (who probably is out of business now), we or the partner you select can not guarantee the upgradeability of your custom piece - we’ll try our best.

    • Reports Upgrade. Good news - if you have Crystal Reports, working with Great Plains Dynamics/eEnterprise 6.0 - then upgrade should be simple, because table structure didn’t change - only minor changes were introduced.

    • Switching to Great Plains. If you are considering Great Plains to be your ERP, we know successful implementations, customizations in the following industries: aerospace & defense, textile, non-profit, services, recruitment & placement, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, hospital & healthcare, transportations, distributions, logistics & supply chain management, education, government, beverages, jewelry, gold & mining.
